[Bug] Hidden files not showing (with preceding .dot)

#1

Hi there,
I’d like to mention that some files that are downloaded from github are missing from the file system. Files like .env and anything with a dot preceding the file name (including .gitignore) are also missing.
Creating a file with a dot in the name disappears.

Edit:
Looks like the file is there just not displayed. Creating a file with the same name shows an error that file already exists.

Hi PeterKMT

That’s the intended behaviour but it’s causing more confusion than helping users. We’ll give more control to users making hidden files visible on the file manager

Ah, that would explain a lot hah. Honestly I think hidden files should be shown since we’re talking files in a source code folder. Devs are not normal people in this regard and these files are used quite extensively for some things . The fact that my file disappears but it’s still there is a bit confusing.

You guys did a helluva job with this IDE! Is it open-sourced anywhere so that somebody like myself could help out with a pull request or two?

The app isn’t open source but keep your recommendations coming

Hi PeterKMT

play.js 1.7.0 now lets you see hidden files in the Files Navigator.

Thanks for your feedback
